Colin
Bass’ eclectic career has seen him working in a broad
spectrum of music styles. Known to many for his distinctive bass playing
and singing in progressive-rock legends Camel (1979
to the present day) he was also a member of the "world-music"
pioneers 3 Mustaphas 3 from 1984 - 1991 and he has
worked with many top international artists on record, on stage and as
record producer. (Full
Discography here) 1999 saw the release of the first Colin Bass album "An Outcast of the Islands", recorded in Poland and California and featuring Andy Latimer and Dave Stewart fom Camel, and members of top Polish groups Quidam and Abraxas and the Poznan Philharmonic Orchestra. Later that same year came "Colin Bass Live at Polskie Radio 3" a 2-CD set recorded at the concert theatre of Polish Radio 3 in Warsaw during the Colin Bass Band’s European tour. In 2000 "Colin Bass Live Vol.2 - Acoustic Songs" was released. His second studio album, "in the meantime" was released in 2003. Work is continuing on the third album. Colin Bass is also the writer and presenter (in the guise of DJ Sabahhabas) of the weekly radio show "Sabah am Sonntag" broadcast by RBB Radio Multikulti from Berlin, Germany, every Sunday at 12 noon. The show is networked on WDR Funkhaus Europa every following Sunday at 8.00am. The show can be heard anytime here. A recognised expert on Indonesian Pop Music, he has contributed to "The Rough Guide to World Music" (Penguin Books), "Auge & Ohr : Ear & Eye" (neue zeitschrift für musik), "Anders Reisen: Indonesien" (Rowohlt) as well as magazines such as Froots and Songlines. He also gives talks on the subject (just ask him).
